At the Masonic Hall, Gravesend, on Monday 7th March 2011, the Lodge of United Friendship No. 6284 celebrated WBro Charles Oliver and WBro Jim Dowe receiving their long service certificates.

The Lodge was honoured, on this special evening, by the presence of the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, Michael Robin Bailey, escorted by Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies, WBro David Alexander.

After attending to the business of the Lodge, the meeting was closed in due form and the brethren were joined by their ladies and guests, to witness the presentation of their certificates. The citations to Charles and Jim were read by David Alexander and the certificates presented to them by Michael Bailey. Both brethren received their certificates with great pride and thanked Michael Bailey for his presentation and all the brethren and guests for their attendance.

Between them Charles and Jim have notched up 110 years in Freemasonry, Charles having served 60 years and Jim 50.

Both were initiated into the Lodge of United Friendship in Gravesend, Charles on Monday 5th February 1951 by WBro Harry Hardy and Jim on Monday March 6th 1961 by WBro Frank Else, by which time Charles was the Junior Warden of the Lodge.

The evening concluded with the guests, visitors and the brethren retiring to the Festive Board to continue the celebrations of this happy and unusual occasion.
