On Saturday 20th October 2012 the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by members of the Provincial Executive and a retinue of active Provincial Officers, joined with the members of the Per Mare Per Terram Lodge No 3609 to celebrate the lodge’s centenary at the Masonic Hall in Manor Road Chatham.

The meeting was attended by 105 people including the lodge’s oldest member Bertie Bunting aged 94, and it’s longest serving member Derek Hale who was initiated in 1956. The meeting was presided over by the Worshipful Master Stan Chapman and all present were delighted to be able to participate in such an important and enjoyable milestone in the lodge’s history.

Highlights of the day included the presentation of the Provincial Grand Master’s Bronze Award in recognition of the lodge’s contribution to the 2014 Festival by Wayne Smith the Provincial Grand Charity Steward, the presentation by the Worshipful Master of a cheque for £3,609.00, as a further donation from the lodge to the 2014 Festival, and the conferment of honorary membership of the lodge upon the RW Provincial Grand Master, Geoffrey Dearing; the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Roger Odd; the Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, Brian Powell, Andy Notley, Roger Waltham, Nick Waller and the Provincial Grand Wardens W Daniels and Phillip South as well as the Provincial Grand Secretary Peter Hagger, the Provincial DC Lyndon Jones; and the Provincial Charity Steward Wayne Smith.

The lodge formed a Centenary Committee in 2002 to prepare for the occasion and to raise the necessary financial resources necessary to ensure its success. The end result reflects the hard work of those who freely gave of their time to ensure the lodge’s first 100 years was celebrated in style.
