Living his Dream

Brother Paul Hardisty

Brother Paul Hardisty from Belvidere Lodge No 503 is an ex service man who has served in numerous theatres of war over recent years. He now suffers from many disorders, including Ehlers Syndrome which affects all his joints with dislocation, continuous pain and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder .

But Paul is made of tough stuff despite suffering both physically and mentally from his injuries. He had a dream of running in the Paralympic torch relay but the problem of finance stood in his way. However, a call to lodge treasurer, Mike Harwood, soon got the ball rolling. Mike and almoner Jim Tynan, in true Masonic fashion, soon solved the problem and enabled Paul to realise his dream.

Paul ran his allocated mile but, not content with that, ran another to cover for a runner who was unable to attend on the day.

During the November lodge meeting the three brethren presented the Paralympic Torch to Worshipful Master John MacCabe.
