WBro Tony Rhodes, of the Pharos Lodge No 6967 in Dover, recently completed 50 years in Freemasonry and therefore qualified for a Long Service Certificate from the Provincial Grand Master.

Unfortunately ill-health has prevented Tony from attending his lodge for a number of years so, by arrangement with his lodge Secretary, WBro Steve Davies, the presentation took place in a surprise visit to Tony’s home in Worth, near Deal.

The presentation was made by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, VW Bro Roger Odd, who was accompanied by the Deputy Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, WBro John Burgess. Also present were the Pharos Worshipful Master, WBro Arthur Hornby and Secretary, Steve Davies, all of whom were welcomed by Tony and his wife Ann.

On receiving his long service certificate, Tony enthralled all present with his recollections of the early days of the lodge, the Founders and members whose company he enjoyed over the years.

With plans to move nearer Dover in the near future, Tony hopes to be able to resume attendance at the lodge.
